An essential tag for your dog!

Worried about losing your dog on a walk? There are various ways of finding him easily. I’ve come across one that looks very promising, and that’s the puppytag! No need for a battery on the dog, just a simple tag!

An effective GPS medal!

Everyone is familiar with GPS collars for their dogs. Whether it’s with an AirTag, which is easy to set up and requires no subscription, or with a classic GPS collar for dogs, which is “bulkier” but more interesting for people who regularly go to remote places, such as the mountains.

There is another type of ‘GPS’ tag that allows you to find your dog by locating it on a map when it is found, whether by a person or the police. This type of tag has one advantage over the other two: it doesn’t need a battery on the collar to power it.

Puppy TAG, your alternative to GPS

Puppy Tag* is an interesting alternative, and can be used as a complement to a GPS when you’re in the mountains. If you live in the city, your pet will probably be found by someone who, instead of calling you directly, can simply scan the tag to alert you. Your pet’s location will then appear in your account Puppy Tag*.

It works quite simply, with the medal linking to a site giving the necessary information for the owner with the location of the scan made via a simple smartphone. No need for an app, battery or anything else, a smartphone is all you need to get the contact information as well as send the location to the owner via a dedicated site.

Advantages of PuppyTag over GPS and Airtag

Here’s a list of the advantages offered by the Puppy Tag* over a traditional GPS or the solution for city dwellers, Apple’s Airtag. The GPS taken into account can be subscription-free for the first three years**.

Conclusion GPS vs Puppy Tag vs AirTag

As you can see, Puppy Tag* has a number of advantages over a traditional GPS device or an AirTag. There’s no risk of running out of battery, no time limit in the water and no depth limit. A simple smartphone is all you need to find the owner and send him the position where the pet was found, whatever the brand.

Of course, you won’t be able to track your beloved pet directly if you don’t want to look for it yourself. That’s why you need to consider both solutions: GPS and/or Puppy Tag*. They complement each other perfectly. One solution can make up for the other in the event of a flat battery, and so provide all the useful information to the person who finds your pet.

For our part, the AirTag solution is not recommended for a number of practical reasons. Although an AirTag is handy for keys and other personal items, you have to be an Apple user, and only one person has access to your pet’s location. Not to mention the limitations of the system, which relies on the Bluetooth of nearby Apple devices. So it’s totally useless outside cities. What’s more, you need to be careful with the battery! If the battery is faulty and leaks, or if the cover opens, there’s a risk that your dog will swallow the battery fluid or even swallow the battery itself.
