Crokeo household rations have arrived!

Since the crowdfunding for Crokeo household rations, it’s been a few months and a few postponed dates. But good news, they’ve finally arrived! What are they worth? Should you splurge? Answer below.

Crokeo Gourmet has arrived!

If you’re not familiar with home rations, you can read my article Home rations, the benefits. It was on this principle that I fell in love with Crokeo and took part in their crowdfunding campaign. Despite the fact that Mia can’t stand their croquettes, I thought it might be interesting to try out, if not adopt, Crokeo’s homemade rations.

Opening the package

Once the parcel was received, it was immediately opened to discover its contents and the two types of household rations to be tested. The packaging is pretty, and the contents look good. I spent a little time looking at the ingredients to see the proportions of vegetables and meat.

The ratio of meat to vegetables is correct, although I find it a little weak compared with other recipes I’ve found on the internet.

The package includes a small note on how to switch from a kibble-based diet to a home ration. It’s well-thought-out and helps make the transition easier.

But what about testing the proposed rations?

Detailed package contents

Indicated nutritional quality

Composition: 56% beef (42% meat, 14% heart), 10% brown rice, 19% carrots, 14% green beans, 1.1% rapeseed oil, 1.4% fish oil

Energy value: 137 kcal/100g

Is Crokeo Gourmet good quality?

The rations seem well made. But once opened, a strange smell emanated from the sachet. Mia only tested the product, but didn’t use it again the following meal. The test was done with the Beef Stew version. A day later, I understood why.

Indeed, in between, an e-mail arrived from Crokeo, announcing that some packs had swollen and that this was not normal, in which case it should be brought to their attention and they would send a new ration.

Although they are aware of the problem, and warn, I no longer trust their product. As much as their croquettes are not tolerated by Mia, the “Gourmet” version seems a real failure.

A personal note from Crokeo Gourmet

Corkeo won’t like my opinion, but unfortunately, when a product is faulty, you have to say so. The vegetable mix chosen doesn’t seem to last (2-3 days max). This means that it is not possible to offer a monthly subscription for this type of food, at least in its current form.

My dog didn’t want the rations after the trial, which is to be expected given the poor quality of the food. The packaging certainly sells, but the contents unfortunately leave a lot to be desired at the moment.
