On the move with PlayDogs

Some of you who follow me here or elsewhere are already aware that I organise weekly walks through the PlayDogs app as well as via the dedicated WhatsApp group. The aim is to meet new people, get together every week at a new location and/or do exercises as requested by participants.

Walks for everyone

Organised walks are open to everyone, as long as the dog is fairly sociable and not aggressive towards other dogs or humans. In the current small group, there are only females who get on quite well and spend a lot of quality time together.

Companions are welcome to join the group to share their walks and talk about the various problems they encounter, but above all to share their experiences.

Although the first outing we organised wasn’t a success, we’ve decided to go ahead with it. The main thing is to offer a place to walk and for anyone who wants to join us, Mia and I.

The philosophy of the “Lausanne | New Masters” group

The philosophy behind the group is very simple: socialising dogs and their owners through a variety of activities.

If you need particular exercises or want to do specific activities, you can suggest them so that you can do them on your next outing. This allows you to practise the points you want with your dog and help him to progress little by little.

What is practised during outings are :

• Dogs meeting dogs
• Dog codes between participants
• The recall
• Crossings with other road users (pedestrians, cyclists, etc.)

What will be put in place gradually

The organisation of outings will be increasingly themed, with different activities depending on the age of the dogs present and their personal abilities.

Depending on the affinities of the dogs and bitches present, it will be a question of proposing :

• Tracking (looking for someone)
• Agility with natural elements
• Sharing tips and tricks to teach your dog some fun tricks (such as jumping into your arms)
• Stroll with aperitif in a nice place that welcomes dogs without worries
• Exercises in a secure dog park hired for the occasion
• Lessons with a dog trainer
• Etc
